111RS - HVAC Updates

The early cars are known to suffer HVAC blower problems due to their electronics getting corroded.  These electronics are located in the front of the car and often end up getting submerged in water that collects in the front cavity.  Lotus issued a Technical Service bulletin many years ago that instructed Dealers to drill holes in the bottom of the chassis to act as drain holes.  But even with these holes, we are seeing failures.

Lotus developed an updated electronics package that they started installing in 2008.  This kit is available from the Dealer and we have been installing them on client cars for many years.

The 111RS needed this along with another update for the AC thermostat.  The car is going to live in the desert South West so AC performance needed to be as good as we could make it.

The cavity that this HVAC sits within can accumulate plenty of funk.  Carlos took the time to clean it out so when the HVAC was reinstalled, it went into a clean cavity.
